Change is upon us, the United States of America has just elected the first Black President and I couldn’t be prouder. It’s about time that the world says its not the colour of your skin that define’s who you are and what you can be, it’s the person you are inside and how hard you work for what you beleive in.

I am greatful and pleased, even if he only manages 1/4 of what he hopes and dreams to do with America, he has already done so much just by showing you can be black and be the President of the United States of America..and sadly, that is a feat I never thought possible, so thank you Obama for proving me wrong.

I work in a predominantly black "African Nova Scotian" environment and let me tell you, the emotions flying around here today are overwhelming, people are crying, people are smilling ear to ear. People feel they have finally been validated at the national level. You can be black and be president-it’s something that so many black stand up comedians only joked about.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.
