Dave-The update

So Dave went to the hospital yesterday. They wanted to take his pins out, however, the x-ray showed that the bones were not fully fused yet.
That means another 2 weeks then more x-rays. They told him he will not be able to use his hand for anything major for 6 weeks post pin removal, So 8 weeks from yesterday. That is just for the physical stability of his hand being safe to use. He will need physio to regain range of motion and to get used to working with his new hand reality. His new hand reality meaning 1/3 less of an index, a middle finger with feeling on only one side and a ring finger with no knuckle or bend in it. My poor poor man.

I don’t foresee him being back to carpentry fully until Summer honestly. He will be able to do some things, but other things will need more time. In the meantime we are debating what he can do for now and he is applying to jobs in sales and such. He applied for a sales job at a local Hardware store that pays 10$ and hour. Hey it’s better then workers comp. I wish I made enought so he could stay home and just collect what he is getting now. It is nice having him home, this week he hung all our art, cleaned the house top to bottom and has been preparing most of the meals. It’s a nice thing to come home too. If I could, I would let Dave be the stay at home Dad and I would go back to work. I hate housework and cooking, he loves it.

Last night we had another couple over for dinner and he made an amazing Indian Food spread complete with Channa Masala, Chicken Korma, Rice Biryani, Nan and even a pot of milky chai. MMMMMM. Delish! Love the Indian food. I get leftovers for lunch today.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Oh shit, two more weeks added on to all of this? Crap. I’m so sorry 😦 Is Dave taking a calcium/magnesium supplement? I am just thinking that it might aid in bone regrowth. Just a thought!
So cute about Dave staying home while you go out and bring home the bacon. I love that he is cooking and cleaning and hosting dinner parties – that Indian food sounds soooooooo good. Please post photos next time he goes all out!
