Belly Dance Pictures

For many of my years in Toronto I was training in the art of Belly Dance-During this period I had about 4 live shows. What a rush. Sadly just as I was getting decent at it I quit completely for a number of reasons. 1) Finances-Dave and I decided we were going to Peru for a month and I needed to save a couple thousand dollars for that, belly dancing is a VERY expensive habit, costumes are expensive to make and even more expensive to buy, then are are shoes, jewelery, zills, cane, lessons and classes, I stopped for 1 year and saves that 2k, so that says something. 2) I hated my teacher and did not enjoy the experience dancing with him. Maybe he meant well, but I did not like his style of teaching by humiliation and singling out, would have been differant if that was happening one on one, but it was in front of my peers and I hate it.
3) I just don’t think it was the right time in my life. I was a differant person then.

Anyhow-I hope I get back into it. my stomach could seriously use a hand. For now here are the pictures  sorry but some are pretty crappy quality.

Here are some older one’s from my first two public performances ever. My costume sucked cause I made it myself by hand. It took months to complete and I was proud. I still have it and will likely revamp it one day. I understand now why these costumes cost so much, they are a bitch to make, each layer hand sewn and beaded.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.
