My ex-midwife turned friend is so damn cool

My midwife with Evan, she rocks my socks. We have kept in touch and she is such a facinating women. She and her husband are from Germany, they sailed here 🙂 he husbands builds sail boats. They have a small farm 45 minutes from me, they raise chickens for the eggs and meat and grow vegetables. He kids are to cool. Anyhow I will be in her hometown in a couple of weeks so I was emailing her to see if she would be around and here is her answer:

"I will be leaving around this weekend. My family is sailing across the Atlantic at the moment. They left here on Saturday 4th July, and will take them about two weeks to reach the Acores Islands. as soon as they arrive, i will catch the next plane and go there. I will be back around the 3rd of August."

How damn cool is that shiz?

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. That’s awesome!
Are you going to see her at all for care during this pregnancy?

    • Naw.
She dosen’t practice midwifery here in Halifax anymore she lives an hour away and so she oppened a practice in her community.
I am sure she will want to be there when the baby is born or at least very soon thereafter and she is a breastfeeding expert so I am sure she will be glad to help me with any concerns there. HOWEVER. My OB practice is also SUPER pro breastfeeding as is the hospital you birth at, they even send a home care nurse to visit you at home postpartum and help you with nursing. It’s very nice.
I soooooo can’t wait to have a baby to nurse. It’s like one of many baby dreams, nursing, babywearing, attachement parenting, ya know 🙂

  2. That’s a pretty cool life!
