Fragmin makes me blue..

I FREAKED out last night when getting ready for my first injection,  Despite the tiny needle, I was still freaked out at the idea. I couldn’t let Dave do it, so I finally just did it myself. Of course the needle did not hurt AT ALL, when putting the drug it burned a little but totally not bad at all, and the needle has an automatic safety retractor, so as soon as the drug is dispensed, it retracts the needle into itself. Cool.
I though, wow, no big deal at all. I couldn’t even see the site I had injected..until this morning.

I awoke with a nice big bruise that just seems to be getting bigger as the day progresses, I guess from the band on my pants rubbing it. So although it dosen’t hurt to administer at all, it seems I will have to live with a polka dot belly for the next few months. Sigh. Well if I get baby outta the deal then it’s worth it.

Here is a picture of my very first Fragmin bruise.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. I had bruises like that the first few weeks, and I still bruise like that occasionally. Now the bruises are about the size of a pencil eraser, and some of them don’t bruise at all.
You will get better at it, too, and I find the further out on my side I go the less painful the injection is.

    • Ya, by my second shot I had basically figuresd out if how to be gentle and not push the injection sight afterwards (Even though it burns and you want to
) and I haven’t gotten more then a purple tiny dot.

  2. You know what? It looks like a faded monogram tattoo. You are badass.

  3. aww:( well, at least it doesnt hurt going in, lol.
as time goes on maybe you’ll learn new techniques for self stabbing and bruise less. haha.
