20 week ulltraound

Ok ok sorry to keep people waiting, the ultrasound was late and I just got home.
All is well, baby looks great, all seems perfect at this stage, and we are 95% sure baby is a SHE πŸ™‚
We can’t say 100% for another couple of weeks because wee one had her legs crossed and wouldn’t uncross em.
However they looked under the bum and said if it was a boy, there would be a scrotum there and there wasn’t, so they are pretty sure it’s a girl. Just don’t want to say 100% until they see her girl parts. I feel as I already did that baby is in fact a girl and her name will be Evangeline Satara Maynard.

Evangeline for so many reasons. 1) It has the name Evan in it, in honour of her brother 2) It means Good News 3) It is a traditional Acadian name after my own heritage and there is a famous folk tale written about a girl named Evangeline that is a big part of Acadian litterature.
Satara in memory of my darling cousin who’s life was taken much to soon.

Anatomy all looked great, placenta is on my front this time whereas it was dorsal with Evan, it’s also up good and high whilst Evan’s was very low lying and we had alot of stress about that. The cord insertion point looked adorable on that baby belly and healthy. All in all it was a very positive experience. We have to go back in a couple of weeks because she was lying on her back and wouldn’t roll over so we could see her spine and so they need a better look at that next time. They said based on the head and feet they feel the nervous system is great, but just need those shots.

Ok we got a couple new profile shots πŸ™‚

About mommamaynard

β€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” β€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

    • oh and maya would NOT roll over and show everything needed during our first scan. before the second one i had a cold sweet drink – can’t remember if it was OJ or coke – and she was much more cooperative!

    • Thanks πŸ™‚ super happy despite having a basement fully loaded with boy stuff. I think I will just give most of it away, the stuff I have no attachment to anyways.

      • You could find a kid’s consignment shop near you, and get store credit for the boyish stuff. Then you would be able to get stuff you need anytime you need it there. We have a couple nice ones near us that have clothes and shoes and baby equipment, and even cloth diapers and slings. It’s really really handy!

      • That is a genius idea and I will have to look into it.
