What really annoys me..

Ok I am pretty patient individual, but each individual has their irks..Mine is ungreatful people. We don’t have to go out of our way to help friends, we do it cause we care and want to help. We don’t expect anything in return except some grattitude and respect.

My husband has a friend who moved here from Toronto, he has a job but was worried the company wasen’t doing well and wanted to jump ship before it went belly up, thus Dave said he would see what he could do. He spoke to his boss and said the guy is a good carpenter but tends to have a bit of an attitude problem. The boss said he would give him a try. He was scheduled to start last Thursday, on Wednesday he called Dave to say he had had a root canal on Monday and couldn’t work this week, could Dave let his boss know. (I didn’t know it took an entire week to recover from a root canal but anyways…) Dave of course said no he couldn’t, that this dude should call the boss himself since it was his job, he got him the job, he is not also his messenger. So I guess the dude healed faster then he expected cause he came in and worked on Friday. However, Monday aka yesterday, he was a no show with no call to explain. He called Dave last night to say his dog was sick and was peeing blood. Ok..sure that’s important but you can’t call your damn boss to let him know?…When your friends reputation from reffering you may well be on the line? MAN.
That is so damn disrespectful.
Dave is pretty chill about it, just said well that’s the first and last time I vouch for him.

Yet this dude has the audacity to say he isn’t having any luck profesionally in Halifax and isn’t making any money here..and whine about wanting to go back to Toronto. I always just want to say "With a pessimistic attitude and work ethic like that, of course your not getting anywhere, it take work and determination to break into a career in a new city, he has only been here 3 months, it took me 8 months of hard work to find work in my field. Also you pretty much have to show up for work if you want to build a good reputation.

β€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” β€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Sounds like Dave covered his ass by saying this guy has an attitude problem, so I wouldn’t be worried for him πŸ™‚
This guy, tho? IS a douche! I can’t stand people like that, either!

    • Ya, Dave already spoke to his boss and said he was sorry all is good. The story continues, he didn’t come in yesterday either nor did he call either Dave or his boss, so I guess he is just never going to show up again and not let anyone know. Dave is just like whatever dude, burn your bridges it’s not my problem.

  2. What a tool. He’s an adult, right? He should know better, esp. when he was referred by a friend. I would be pissed if I vouched for someone and they acted so immature toward a mutual employer. Ugh…
