It’s done.
I got my H1N1 vaccine today.
I hope I made the right decision but I feel like I did.
I waited 3 hours for this damn shot, however, it did not hurt AT ALL and so far I am side effect free 2.5 hours later.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. We got ours yesterday too. Feel so much better having it as baby can’t get it yet. DH had some side effects but I’m ok except for a sore arm. They think they’re going to run out here today so I’m so glad we braved the crowds yesterday and got it done- took 5 1/2 hours start to finish. At least it was a nice day for the long lines outside.

    • Ya it was quicker for me b/c it was at the IWK hospital for ONLY women 20+ pregnant, no one else. The clinics in town for the general public open Monday and I am sure the lines will be just as long.
I think you guys made the right choice, which was the basis for my choice, a new baby who otherwise won’t have immunity. If it was just me, a normal healthy adult I would have either passed or waited until all high risk people had a chance to get the vaccine.
Only side effect I seem to have is a soar arm as well.

  2. good for you. tell us how you came to your decision? i think thats often helpful for people still mulling it over.

    • I couldn’t handle the fear of having my baby smack in the middle of an outbreak with no immunity, so really this was more for her then me, I want to make sure she has a fair start at life after her brother didn’t.

  3. *hugs* I know it was a tough decision
