Prenatal checkup

I am seeing two doctors now, my normal OB and my Perinatal Specialist. Today was the OB appointment, but I saw the nurse practitioner since my OB was out sick. I asked about my G Diabetes test, since it’s been nearly two weeks. The nurse said my doctor looks over her lab results each morning and so if she hadn’t called me then it means it was normal. I assumed the same, it was normal last time.

Heartrate was 160.

BP 137/80…(here is my pattern so far 124/70 130/70 130/70 117/85..) it’s weird that my top number was up, it never is, oh well, it’s still normal.

Weight gain….I dont understand. Down .2 kg…How?
I ate 4 mini chocolat bars and a bag of dill pickle chips after dinner last night. I know I throw up like 2-3 times a week, but that is like less then a meal in quantity lost. Total weight gain at 26.7 weeks is 6.2lbs. Wow! I hope I gain at least 6lbs in my last trimester cause I am a bit worried, they say it’s ok since  I was 50lbs overweight to begin with. I gained 25lbs with Evan.

I worry to much. I worry that my last ultrasound said the baby was messuring on the small side of normal at the 13th percentile. The say it was well in the normal range and don’t worry, and she’s growing conisistantly and that is what matters. I can’t help but worry.

It’s ironic though cause Evan always messured big and ended up being only 7 lbs 110z, 21 inches long. They thought he was gonna be a 9 pounder. Maybe Evangeline is just going to be a petite girl.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. I’m jealous. I can loan you some of the 50+ lbs I gained if you like… haha!

    • haha no thanks 🙂 I was thinking 20ish would be a-ok but it dosen’t look like I am gonna make that. Maybe all these Halloween mini chocolat bars will fix that.

  2. Those measurements are really untrustworthy – at least I know they are in the last trimester. I’ve heard lots of stories of people being told they were going to have a huge baby, oh no!, and then the baby comes out normal sized. It could be, Evan needed that extra time in the womb to put on some more weight, you could grow slow-weight gainers in general. So that would make Evangaline being small just a normal family trait.

    • My bottom line is, she is within the normal range and growing consistantly, I had 2 weeks between ultrasounds at 20 weeks and she had grown normally. I am starving all the time, I am just craving healthy food (Tangerines this week, baby carrots and cucumbers last week) were with Evan I wanted candy and french fries alot. Differant babies, differant pregnancys. I just figures 6.5 pounds is about right, 3 pounds of baby, 3 pounds of blood and placenta. I also have no swelling to date in terms of water retention and I did with Evan so that is probably also a differance weight wise.
Also-I am a shorty, just barely 5’2 so my child might be petite like myself. I was always really small until 26ish when I gained a bunch of weight.

  3. who knows about this weight stuff. Today, the NP told me I could afford to gain more weight! At 4 months, i have gained 7 lbs! I was trying to keep it down since I am heavier than I started with Serenity, in the overweight category, probably by 20-30 lbs. And it’s not like i am trying or not trying to lose weight – it’s just where I am at!
Just try to eat healthy and balanced. these docs don;t need to give us extra stuff to worry about.
oh, and when they say ‘since they didn’t call just assume it’s normal,’ I ask for the numbers. They could have overlooked it or someone screwed up along the way. We are the first and last line!

  4. dont worry about weight gain. i lost 20lbs (yes, really) when i was pregnant with Lily. i really tried to watch what i was eating and stopped loading up on Mcdonalds and taco bell, and replaced them with fruit and veggies lol.

    • oh and their guestimates are often waaaay wrong as far as the baby’s weight goes. They gave me a bunch of lectures, thought my losing weight was terrible (im more than 100lbs overweight to begin with) and thought i wasnt eating anything. Told me Lily’s size was way too small for a baby her gestational age, accused me of drug use even though my blood was clean, etc. “oh she’s only going to be 5 lbs” they insisted. The very next day, I gave birth to her. 7 lbs 5 ozs suckers. drug use and anorexia my ass. sorry. i really wanted to vent lol. 😦
