Awesomeness and less then awesomeness.

The Awesome.
-Well the baby of course. She get’s first dibs at awesomness

-Our land tax assessment was too high last year (we purchased at less then the estimated value) so we overpaid which means
starting today, our mortage payments dropped $80.00 a month for this next year. WOOT perfect timming. We now pay $150.00 less
a month to our mortage then we did to rent, including the land tax. How wonderful is that. Makes wiggle room for the unexpected household
expenses and for super expensive oil and wood we need to heat our house.

The less then Awesome.
-MS Vista. Boo Vista. Dave bought a new laptop a short while ago and it came with Vista and we have had nothing but problems with it. Anytime it does an automatic update the laptop crashes. Last Saturday, while we were sleeping Vista did an automatic updated and somehow hidden encoded malicious software got uploaded with it and crashed our system. We kept getting the blue screen of death. When we called Dell they looked into it and are the one’s who informed us of said malicious software. We had to reformat the whole damn thing…for the second time in 4 months. Boo. They offered to sell us a Windows 7 upgrade for the low low price of $200. Blow me. I want to go back to Windows XP not forward to more crappy operating systems.

-Dave got brand spanking new winter tires put on our vehicle last Friday. Yesterday-Monday..i.e 1 business day later, he got a tire puncture from a nail. Of course that is just our luck. Luckily the same garage who installed em laughed at us and just charged $20.00 to fix it.

-Our vehicle is an automatic off the lot 2007 Chevy Uplander. Just this past 2 weeks (READ: 1 month outside warranty window) it has starting having issues as though it were a standard transmission. What I mean is that sometimes ( 3 times so far in 2 weeks) when we accelerate after being stopped at a red light, the car won’t go for a minute, as though it’s out of gear then it clicks back in and all is fine. 2 people have said it could very well be the transmission. IF this is the transmission going on a brand new low milage vehicle 1 month outside warrantee, GM will be hearing from a lawyer cause this un-fucking-real. Let’s hope that is not the case.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Have you had the transmission serviced? It might be a fluid problem.
I know it feels like new, but it is 2y old and if the warranty has expired, filing a lawsuit won’t really do anything for you.

    • 2 years brand new off the lot with not alot of milage IS new, new enough that the transmission, something major should not be failing. Yes we have had our car serviced regularly. The dealership calls us each time something is due to be done and we bring it in. Anyways-hopefully it’s something minor and none of this matters.
We drove a 98 Ranger before we bought this new. We sold the Ranger and used the money for a downpayment so we would have a reliable family vehicle. We never had any issues with the Ranger, except it had no back seat for a car seat and we had paid 4k cash for that and had it for 3 years. We paid 20k for this Uplander brand new.
When I say I will talk to a lawyer. I mean in a worst case scenario, not just cause. Besides I was just venting. We are frustrated with the streak of bad luck that has been following us for like 3 years now. Plus I am VERY pregnant and exausted and so my tolerance for stress is significantly reduced.

  2. Is the car still real cold when it does that? If so the transmission fluid may still not be circulating until it warms up.

  3. You might not need a laywer. My friend had an suv that was two months out of warranty and the engine went. Do you have all your paperwork from all oil changes and maintenance? If you do, and if you feel like arguing, write down all your valid points and smart assy comments, and call GM. Complain. If someone backs you into a corner, as for their manager. If they say no, call back. After two weeks of arguing they fixed her car for her, for free. Try it. I would, I like arguing! lol.
Vista sucks. I actually like it more than XP because with my last computer I had a lot more problems on it than this one. Do you have a copy of the operating system or are you just doing the recovery reformat that is partitioned on you hard drive? The reason I ask is because in my experience, viruses and such don’t always go away with a reformat. You might need to zero the hard drive, then format and install the OS.
