30 weeks doctors appointment and anethesiologist.

Saw my peri today. No concerns of course, perfect blood pressure and strong baby heart beat. Need to start on an Iron suppliments as my platelet count has gone from 120-115-112 over the past 6 months. Anything over 110 is perfectly fine, but they don’t like the downward direction. Nothing more to say on that, will see her again in 2 weeks and start biophysicals then. She said I am having another textbook pregnancy, that should make me happier then it does. It’s the again part that get’s me….since things didn’t turn out swimmingly last time.

Saw the Anesthisiologist to chat about epidurals and pain killer options as well as what if’s and options? Bottom line is no one will touch my spine (or give me an amnio) within 24 hrs of a Fragmin shot due to the high risk of bleeding, and bleeding in the spine (or womb) is never good. I can switch at 36 weeks to shorter acting Heparin 2x a day and then am elligible for an epidural within 6 hours max from last shot, often sooner. He also suggested that since they have no reason to believe I am high risk for a blood clot, that I should feel free to skip my shot if I feel imminant labour. Then he felt up my spine, made me stick out my tongue, show my teeth and move my jaw around, felt my throat and neck and then sent me on my jolly way. ( I have no clue what these things were about haha)

That’s the update for now.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. All sounds good. Wow, you’re hospital is on the ball- I didn’t meet with my anesthesist until the night before the surgery.
I had all the mouth stuff too, along with lots of questions about dental work. Again, no idea.
    Yay!

  2. i wondered about the teeth/jaw/throat thing too.
