Maternity Leave

Today is my first day of maternity leave, however I have like no down time until next week. I had alot of emotions yesterday about it being my last of work but I am so damn busy I can’t put them into words. Today I have to clean the whole house and bake a flourless chocolat orange tort, we have dinner guests tonight, local friends who moved to Ottawa like 6 months ago and are home visiting for the holidays. Don’t worry, Dave is holding his ground, he is making all of dinner πŸ™‚ he is just at work all day.

Tommorow I have a biophysical, physio appointment and then peri appointment, back to back to back haha.

Thursday we go to Evans grave and bring him his wreath, then from there leave for the 3 hour drive to my mom’s in Moncton.

Once Christmas is passed I should have some more time on my hands..then maybe I can actually rest up before E is due to arrive, I am 34 weeks day after tommorow. WOW. She could be ready in as little as 3 weeks, max 5.

I picked up my 30 days of shorter acting Heparin, they want me to make the switch over at 36 weeks, I think I will at 35 cause being on the 24hr Fragmin knowing I cannot receive a spinal scares me, especially with a currently breach baby, I do not want to be asleep for her delivery, and if I were to go into labour now, and she had to arrive via section, I would have to be asleep. Hopefully she won’t stay breach and she will come out normally and be nice to her mama but I have to be prepared for anything.

About mommamaynard

β€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” β€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Wow, so you can’t have an epidural? (Or just not specifically a spinal, which I think are slightly different?)
Will you be able to have other pain-management drugs?

    • nope. no epidural. Fragmin is a 24hour blood thinner, and the risk of a spinal bleed is something not to be messed with, so nothing in your spine within a 24hour window of having had Fragmin. Heparin is shorter acting, so you can have an epidural within 5 hours of your last shot, which is why they switch you at week 36. I am just gonna start at 35 just in case of early labour, no reason to think I would have early labour but you just never know.

  2. ((((((((hugs)))))))))
Hehe, can you mail me some torte? Sounds YUM!!! πŸ˜‰
