This and that..maternity leave stuff

Now that I am on maternity leave, my income is cut in half. I am soooo not complaining, I am way way lucky to get half my income for a year. Anyways, I am trying to regulate my bills and such so they fit into my income. I won’t be stressed once it’s all worked out and smooth, but right now there is a gap in my money, I get one more full check from work tommorow and then I am done, and I am in the waiting period for Unemployment to start. I submitted my application, but they have to wait to receive my Record of Employment and then there is a 2 weeks waiting period before it begins, so basically I will be lucky to get any EI money’s by end of January. However, the mortage still has to be paid in there so I have to stretch my money super thin. I will do it, I just have to not spent a cent unecessarily in the next few weeks, not even for a   1$ coffee. Thank goodness I have overdraft protection for security. No more diaper buying for me. Dave and I have always split the bills 50/50, he helps out a bit more when I am on mat leave, but he still can only earn so much so I have to pull my weight. I just called student loans and got my payments hard core reduced, so that is going to be a big help. Basically they let you make interest only payments while on maternity leave, so that is 1/3 my usual payment.

Just wanted to clear my head. Imagine when it’s time to go back to work, and I have to figure out how the hell to pay for childcare. I don’t have the option of staying home, we need my income, even with the cost of childcare figured in it’s still worth it for me to work.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.
