Slings and things

Also-tried to put her in my Nursing Under Cover sling last night while I ate dinner, she was not a fan. Neither was I til I figure this out..
Her butt, back and feet are fine, but the sling is to deep for her head, she is like downing in there, it’s the right size, she just dosen’t like to have her head burried, so I put a towel under her head but then it put her neck at a weird awkward angle.

I think I need to get a Mei Tai I think I would like it better as would she, that is how she sleeps after all, vertically, not horizontally.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. No sling worked for us. First he was too small (4.7 lbs) then he was too fussy… I tried! We settled for the car seat and the stroller, or just in my arms.

  2. I dunno if you want to do this but you can EASILY make your own wrap with a few yards of gauzy fabric. http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions.aspx#WrapInstructions
I tried a few other wraps/slings and NOTHING worked as good as this one. I Love it!

  3. You’ve got a ring sling? Can you do this at her age?

This was at two months. Caspian loved that.
Zinnia loved her Moby, upright chest to chest at first, then quickly she switched to facing outward.
In our mei tai when Zinnia was two days old, I was able to prop her into it with some blankets around her sides and holding onto her with one hand, so I could eat dinner. But then we used the moby, and it was much easier.

  4. A wrap is also useful in the early days! Remy also liked to be upright on my chest, but I didn’t like mei tais til later… he kind of swam too much in them at first. My wraps (mama-made and then a month later I got a Moby) were AWESOME! I sold my Moby after he got too big for it and it’ll probably be the only baby carrier I’ll replace! (I still have mei tais and an active baby bjorn for M and well… too many other carriers! LOL)
You can also use your sling to hold her vertically, like so: http://www.taylormadeslings.com/verticalcarry.html
