You know your exausted when..

Dave did laundry today, in the washine machine he found a disposable diaper. It was saturated and must have weighed 20lbs..
I must have thrown it into the laundry hamper in my half sleep stupor. It is right beside the diaper pail where we put our cloth diapes 🙂
Maybe I thought it was cloth and the hamper was the pail..who knows.

She is much less fussy today, which is great, but she just won’t go to sleep tonight..We are taking turns walking with her and rocking her. Her belly is full of millk, she has a new diaper, she just want’s to party..her typical bedtime was 40 minutes ago..typically we count on her fussy alert period being around 2 hours then she crashes’s been 3 hours now and I just handed her off to Dave, wide eyed and alert. Here’s hoping his magical daddy abilities put her out..he does better then me, all she can seem to think of when she is on me is boob, boob, boob..which would be just fine by me, I love nursing her, but she get’s mad at my milk for existing when she is just looking for comfort sucking and it’s a vicious cycle of tantrums..
I feel so terrible when she is just rooting and rooting like mad, and I can’t offer her comfort, I have tried the nuk pacifier which is most like breast and she just gag’s or pushes it out with her tongue, she like’s dad’s pinky but that only comfort’s her for so long as well.

I went and bought 5 yards of a nice cotton knit fabric, it’s reversable which is cool, one side navy with small pink dots, the other navy with thin pink stripes, I am going to make a couple of Moby type wraps from it and give one as a gift to a friend who is due in a few weeks. There are three local girls I know due to have baby girls in the next 12 weeks, crazy.

I am just sitting here, watching the Olympic oppening show, listening to Sarah Mclaughlin, and now an Irish fiddle and dance show. Two things I love in a 15 minute span. I am 50% Irish and obsessed with fiddles and celtic music and dance.

OK I am just wasting time with this post haha, I am exausted and want to go to bed, I think…yes Dave says the baby is out..Huzzah!

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  2. Dang it! I thought I was logged in. Anyways, that was my comment 😉

    • I know..the self soothing is not a thing she is learning here either, at least not yet, even when she does get her fist in her mouth she wont’ keep it there..she won’t take a soother, tried two kinds, just gags..Dad’s finger only works for a while..
Oy. Newborns are hard work..I am just greatful that for 20 hours a day she is a happy baby and then we get 3-4 brutal, sad baby hours..
I find myself wishing for 3 months to arrive when I really want to cherish every second with her precious tiny self.

  3. that sounds like my night the night before last.
He too keeps rooting and rooting but I have to give my poor boobies a break because they get sore when he does it all the time.
We’re trying to get him to learn to self soothe a little.

  4. wow that is awesome you can make a Moby!!
