Evangeline is 7lbs 6oz today. Good in that she is up 6oz since her last weigh in 2 weeks ago but she could have gained double that. I try to remind myself all babies are differant and she is gaining and thriving. I was happy she was up period but the nurse said they like to see them gain .5 to 1 oz a day at this age so 7-14oz in 14 days and she was up 6. No one seemed concerned except me but we are to go back in 2 weeks to get weighed again.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Try not to dwell on it too much. You’re giving her lots of time at the breast (good for you!!!), she’s alert, she’s growing, she’s peeing… just keep doing what you’re doing, sweetie. They really all do grow at their own pace.

  2. One of the most common regrets I’ve noticed mothers have, myself included, was worrying so much about weight gain. Of course it’s good to keep an eye on her health, but try to save the worrying for the day of the appointment 🙂

    • Thanks. There is always something to worry about huh?
I have to remember to she was 2 weeks early and
Evan was 7.11 at 2 weeks overdue so at this same
age now she is only 6oz less then he was. It just seems all the
babies in my Jan due date group are gaining much more weight,

      • There IS always something to worry about! Haha, you know I do. We have a friend whose son is almost exactly a year younger than Zinnia, and by the time he was five months old he was the same weight as her. Drove me nuts! Hang in there! Evangeline looks like she is doing so well, alert and filled out and everything.
