Sick baby sleep

Oy it’s gonna be another long night, Evangeline has been asleep 1 hour and has woken up crying twice and nursed back to sleep.
Thankfully we can both sleep in tomorrow as late as needed. We slept til 11:30 today after being up at 11:30, 1:30, 2:30-4, 6:30 and 8:30. Since she is sick I don’t mind, it sucks all around but at least it’s cause she’s not feeling well. Just hope these days don’t cause a full reverse in her sleep patterns, I was liking the 9-9 routine.

She is not a great sleeper on the best of days, it’s just not her thing ya know? Something important could be missed.
These days she sleeps with her legs in the air and we fight over blankets cause she kicks em off and I want em on (I’m cold). She is still nursing at least 2x a night, that’s a good night, one night last week she was up every hour and a half and then straight from 3-5:30, I actually cried that night cause I was so exausted I thought I would collapse. She thought it was funny and was all smiles.
I will never understand how a 5 month old functions so gleefully off half the sleep I would need to feel myself. Crazy child, At least she’s happy that sure helps.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Yeah, I remember those days and shit, that was hard. I hope it gets better for you sooner than it did for me!

They’re pretty amazing in terms of getting *just enough* sleep for them. I always used to wonder about it, then I’d add up every nap and sure enough, Remy almost always got the lower end of the recommended amount of sleep. Bizarre!

    • Oy, hands down the hardest part of parenting, cause without any sleep us momma’s are not functioning at our prime. We didn’t sleep in today after all, nope after getting to bed at 5:30am. E. was decidedly ready to get up at her usual 9am and mom was a mess. 3.5 hours of restless sleep..
