Grant me patience…

To keep optimistic, calm and managing off almost no sleep for 48 hours, to keep comfort nursing my sick little girl despite the nipple biting and kicks to the chin and throat, to remember that this too will pass and my baby girl will love me all the more for helping her through it AND to be grateful she has no fever and still acting like herself only a bit crankier cause it could be so much worse.

I know we are lucky she has had 5 months of great health before now, and that I should prepare myself for many more nights like this through my parenting career.

But the child just bit my other nipple, so there is only so much nursing I am willing to do, that is 6 times today I have been bitten, my nipples are soar after 5, yes 5 consecutive non stop hours of comfort sucking and…if my cat doesn’t shut up with the whining for food just cause I am awake so it must be morning even if it’s dark out and I never get breakfast in the dark time…I am risk of locking it outside for the rest of  the morning cause I am just one women..just one starving, thirsty, exhausted women.

About mommamaynard

β€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” β€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. This is one of many (MANY!) times I wish I lived closer. I’d love to take Ms. E for a little while so you could nap! Poor mite, though, being sniffly is so rough for nursing 😦 😦 😦

Have you tried giving her some frozen BM in a washcloth or mesh feeder? I am thinking she might be starting teething… and at least it’d give your nips a little bit of a break!

    • Thanks hun. She has started teething indeed, has been chewing on my hand and her own. Gonna do a frozen washcloth, she is not co-ordinated enough to get the heavy mesh feeder into her mouth and hold it there.
I am exhausted, but I am in 100% mom mode, my needs come second to hers right now. Of course cause she is sick, more then ever, she only wants mom, so Dave trying to give me a break results in a very pissed infant, and she is congested so much she chokes chokes when she cries. I am just laying down everytime she’s asleep, got two 3 hour stretches last night which is a huge improvement. I am thanking our vaporizer for helping her breath a bit easier.

    • Thanks hun πŸ™‚ I know it will, I am just so dead tiered and sitting up alone in the dead of night, nothing to do but blog about it.

      • I know! Don’t even think I’m not telling you not to blog about it! Just trying to keep your spirits up, the way my friends did for me ❀

      • Yup, that’s what friends are for. Amazing how quickly you can put your tiered needs aside in an instant when your poor precious baby is sick. Thank God for adrenalin.
