Stuff..

The cutest thing I have ever seen was seen today…I walked in the kitchen and found Dave with Evangeline in the ring sling, Evangeline gnawing on an entire stalk of cold celery happy as a clam LOL.
Then he took her outside and had an 80’s dance party in the back yard while I napped for an hour after the night from hell, revisited.

That being said Evangeline is a "really bad sleeper" so much so I have been melting down and finally decided I can’t keep going like this. I have been averaging 3 hours of broken sleep a night with maybe a one hour nap during the day. She has for a month-ish been waking up at 3am and staying up til 5-5:30am, no matter what I do..I also have a feeling I am waking her when she whines in her sleep and I, half asleep roll over and stick my boob in her mouth, thus reinforcing her "can’t sleep without a boob’ issue. She is keeping Dave up, he started sleeping in the basement, and I have been getting regular migraines from exhaustion. I have loved co-sleeping the past near 6 months, but both of us have reached our limit, it’s tainting our relationship and thus my ability to be the positive patient mother I want to be.  I have no desire to night ween her and have no issue getting up to feed her 2-3x in the night, but something has to give. So after reading The No Cry Sleep Solution, we are about to undertake the very humane, no CIO sleep training to get her into her own bed. Our house is teeny tiny and her room is right next door, so I am feeling ok about this..I am actually feeling optimistic now that I have given myself permission to try something else.

I have been so back and forth on this, I love cuddling her in the night, but I really truly feel this the best idea for my whole family right now.

Evangeline is changing so fast, she is such a wonderful little person, very outgoing and chatty and always the life of the party. I am so pleased she turned out to be a people person like I am. She has learned so many new things. My  favorite new party trick is when she grabs my drink of water and feeds herself, it’s messy but it’s awesome to watch this tiny girl grab a huge cup and tip it into her mouth LOL. She was doing that at the BBQ last night at a friends and was a superstar. She also has learned to like the car (Hallelujah) and almost always falls asleep in her car seat.

We are off to Moncton for a week with my mom, with Dave working I get lonely so decided to go spend a full week there. We leave Sunday.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. have fun! I assume you are going to start the sleeping thing when you get back? Maybe Dave can join you for a bit so he and E aren’t away from each other so long. From what you’ve described of her she might start treating him like a new person with that kind of separation.

    • Fun..Oh yeay for sure LOL.
Ya when I get back of course. I have also been getting her ready for weeks for when I finally decided time had come, I have been letting her play in her crib with her cool mobile while I fold and put away her diapers and clothes, so she associates crib with fun. I will sleep on an air mattress on her floor if I have to LOL.
Ya I will for sure get Dave in on the sleep training thing, she has really warmed up to him lately and is allowing him to soothe her more so I hope it continues in that way.
