No Mom of the year award for me.

I swear I turned to the side to hit next on the Ipod dock for 2 seconds…just 2 seconds. Bam Evangeline rolled off her change table and onto the floor. I grabbed her in one foul swoop and run her into my bedroom were I hug her and rock her to stop the crying, then check her over for injuries/check her pupils for dilation and make sure all that seemed ok. When everything checked out and she seemed ok I finally allowed myself to breath.
I know better, she is highly mobile, I cannot look away even for a second at that height. I was exausted today and not thinking clearly. I am not sure I could forgive myself if she had gotten seriously hurt. Oy.

About mommamaynard

β€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” β€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. Oh Boy.. I feel sooo BAD when that happened! 😦

  3. I was walking along a forest trail carrying Miriam when she was about 18 months old. I tripped and went flying. I will never forget the fear of seeing her flying through the air. She’s 8 now, and I still get scared remembering it.

It’s so hard when it happens, but what matters is that she is okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself!

  5. They will always find some way to scare us. All we can do is make sure they are ok and carry on. I think of it as lesson learned and try not to let the situation happen again. I’m glad she’s not hurt. *hugs*

  7. My eldest, when she was maybe 2, fell off the back side of a lawn chair, the lounging kind, when my cousin got up from the end thereby taking off the weight keeping it from tumbling back. My girl whacked her head on the cement step. Cried like you would believe. But she was fine, barely a scratch.

Everyone’s right, don’t beat yourself up, she’s okay!!!

  9. I can’t even count the number of times Peter has rolled or fallen off of something.

Recently he fell backwards off the couch, hitting his head on the coffee table. After a bout 4 second of crying, he was ready to keep going. He’s also recently gone headfirst off the bed. Several times. Ugh!

  13. When that happens, it makes us feel so guilty. I think it’s happened to us all. Jennifer rolled off the bed, while I was folding laundry. Dont beat yourself up over it.
