Growth and health

Evangeline is madly teething, has a mildly infected right ear and a soar throat…unpleasant times in the Maynard household, but we are hanging on with lots of nursing and patience. They said the ear irritation is quite mild and likely to pass on it’s own. In the meantime I am just watching for signs of it worsening.

She had her Well Baby yesterday and at 7 months 1 week she weighs a whopping 14lbs 13oz, 🙂 my porker, note the sarcasm.
Of course the RPN was like, wow that is light, can you bring her back with you next Friday to be weighed? and of course I was like, a yea, were I go she goes…but that is over 2lbs in two months and pretty consistent with how she has been all along, remaining between 5th-8th percentile. She grew 2 inches after all, she is not a starving baby..she eats soo much, she is just wee. Why does everyone always get serious about her small stature..I am 5’2 guys. Anyways she kept saying, oh she is healthy and has great muscle tone so I am not overly worried. She is 67cm long, or 26.4 inches.

Anyhow I looked a mess due to getting 3 hours sleep the night before after a week of craptastic sleep, and I asked about my appointment to meet the Mental health nurse, so I see her next Friday to determine if I do have PPD or just personal imbalance, lack of support and no sleep depression lol. The RPN closed her door and let me cry, reassured me I am doing an excellent job cause E. is so well adapted (will go to a stranger fine, smiles at everyone ect..) I am just not finding the balance between her needs and mine, thus neglecting myself, thus my moods are suffering. She is going to meet with me regularly in person and via phone to work on a plan and routine that helps everyone get their needs met, and I am so grateful.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  1. She is a tiny one! How cute! As long as she is growing!

Glad you are taking steps to take care of yourself. It is hard to balance the baby the house, and the self. I go to the YMCA most days. They have a tot watch there (And I am just there to be paged if needed). This makes it so that I spend *23* hours a day with Beanie, instead of 24. That hour makes a world of difference (plus I am getting in shape, which is really good for my mind and spirit). If I don’t go to the Y, we take a walk, during which she normally falls asleep (int he stroller). This helps clear my mind too. Maybe it’s something you can figure out how to do for yourself.

  3. I know I’ve told you this before… my eldest is like this and everyone always worried about her (they still do!!). She has consistently been under the 5% line but the pediatrician was never worried because she was always following HER curve, that is, she may have been small, but she was growing. At 4.5 years old she’s 35lbs and 41″. I’m 5’2″ and before getting pregnant with #2, I was 108lbs (I’m 119lbs now). Everyone tells me how skinny she is, but I know she’s fine. I’m sure Evangeline is fine too.

  5. Next Friday to be weighed?? What are they thinking, that she’ll somehow have grown a couple pounds by then? I understand bringing in a brand-new baby to be weighed once a week or once every couple of weeks if they’re concerned, to see how many ounces she’s gained, but seriously, at 7 months, what difference do they think a week or two will make? So weird.
