Evangeline at 8 months

8 months is so fun and true to Evangelines nature lol continues to be very challenging at times.
She has been balancing on all fours so close to crawling for two months but just won’t move onto the next step. She just falls on her belly and rolls and wriggles to get to what she wants, then she goes from belly to sitting back up and to kneeling. This week she has been trying to stand, pushing her bum up feet flat, and pulling up to kneeling while in the bath. Maybe she skip crawling altogether haha.
She had been doing so much better in the sleep department overnight,(had because we seem to have regressed this week, oy. ) naps still sucked but I let it go cause she was averaging 11 hours of sleep at night.
She is so full of personality and fire still. Full body screatching throw down tantrums over the randomests things, not wanting to have her diaper changed, not wanting to get dressed after a bath or changed in the morning from her jammies to day clothes or not getting fed fast enough if it’s food she can’t feed herself. People don’t beleive us she is so strong willed, she loves people and being out so she is always a perfect angel when out and about, so she saves up all her frustration and fits just for us. However, on the flipside of that she also saves up all the best love and smiles for us too, and it’s 80 percent happy baby, 20 percent fits so the good tips the bad by such a long shot. She eats like a champ, loves food so much and eats tons and yet continues to be teeny tiny at just under 15lbs at 8 months. She cracks me up every day.
This morning I went and got her from her crib and brought her to our bed for morning cuddles, I was not wearing a top but had blankets over me, she was sitting up between Dave and I, then out of the corner of her eye I guess she caught glance of my nipple, she spun her head around and dove face first onto my boob. She then proceeded from nursing in a sitting possition to nursing kneeling and nursing in an almost downward dog possition, leaving me giggling the whole time. Guess she is not used to it just being there for the taking cause I usually sleep in a sports bra or am wearing a top nursing. Then later today she was playing with my face, patting it and what not, and so Instuck out my tongue at her and she lunged forward and latched onto my freaking tongue and started sucking up a storm like it was a nipple lol, craked me up, I even got her to re enact for Dave, but she wouldn’t do it to his tongue so I guess it’s only mine haha.
So the time is fast approaching that I have to return to work (so so sad) and I am really glad she is well established on solids so I know she won’t starve all day while I am away. She will be a year old when I go back so I intend to nurse her first thing in the morning, as soon as I get home and in the evening, plus as she wants on the weekends. I have a small supply of pumped milk to give her during the day if she wants it, but as a rule she won’t drink my milk out of anything but the boob, she will only drink water in her sippy cup usually, so she will have to fill up on water and solids during the 7 hours I am away from her. I don’t have any intention of weaning anytime soon so long as she continues to be on board which I just don’t see as being a problem.

About mommamaynard

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.

  3. The nursing antics at this age are hilarious! Peter just discovered I have TWO boobs, and when we nurse he’s a crazy wiggle worm, flip flopping all over my lap. I love it!

  5. Happy 8 months to Ms. Evangeline!!!

Ahhh…going back to work. I did that when Rachel was about 7 months or so. It was tough to bf & work, but it is possible. It helps when they have been taking some solids well. Good luck momma!!!
