Blog Awards

My favorite OCD Momma over at Poop on a Hot Tin Slide was ever so kind as to send me a couple of awards today. Yeay!!! So without further ado, here they are:

The rules of redeeming these awards are as such: Write seven things about yourself and then pass the award on to 10 other bloggers (Or as many as you can ๐Ÿ™‚ cause seriously, I don’t even follow 10 bloggers right now. Mostly because 3/4 of my life was on Livejournal, which is more like a social group then an actual blog. Secondly, with a FT job and toddler at home, I find it hard to keep up with what is new and exciting in the blog-a-verse, unless someone drops it into my lap and I go immediately and add it to Bloglovin. Thirdly, the blogs I do follow are more educational and less personal like Parent Hacks, Glow in the Woods and DPS Photography.

So on to me. Ready? Here we go!

1- I have been blogging for 7 years, but only got serious about it during my pregnancy with my first baby Evan. I was over at Livejournal for most of my blogging life and have only just recently transferred everything over to WordPress and am loving it so far.

2- Evan, after a perfect, easy and healthy pregnancy; was stillborn at 42 weeks gestation. On Christmas Eve 2007.

3- After the death of my firstborn, I connected with blogging on a whole new level. It became healing for me, it was a place to say what I was feeling without fear and judgement. My words ended up helping many other loss mom’s through their own healing journeys and I am so grateful we crossed paths.

4- I am a Career Counsellor by profession. I have a Psychology Degree and a Career Counselling Post Graduate Diploma.

5- I am proudly pagan. There! I outed myself. Out of the Broom Closet for Me kids. I hope no one would choose to judge me according to my spiritual path, cause I would NEVER do that to you. In fact, I believe all religions are created equal and we are all children under God. I am a peaceful, kind hearted, earth loving mama who want’s nothing more the world peace. (No I am not ditzy, I swear and no pageants for me.) The pagan community has brought me alot of love and support, in fact, I met my husband of 5 years and best friend at the WCC in Toronto.

6- Our daughter Evangeline is like the coolest kid on the planet, I seriously love being her mom. She loves giving high fives and fist bumping anyone in her presence.

7- We co-slept for most of the first year, use cloth diapers and practiced baby led weaning. My daughter stopped nursing at 18 months, still goes back for a taste now and then, but the fountain has dried up. I am also obsessed with baby wearing and own an ego, a couple ring slings, a pocket sling, a moby style wrap and a Mei Tai carrier. Nothing better then a tiny baby strapped to your chest. Nothing better then a fast and reckless toddler under control while strapped to your back or hip.

8- Most of my young professional life happened in Toronto, Ontario, but I am from the East Coast and missed the Ocean so deeply during my years there. We moved East to Nova Scotia in 2007. I don’t regret the move but I miss my friends so deeply.

9- I have a thing for zombies. I think their cool.

10-I have a Yorkshire Terrier dog named Oliver. He is the coolest damn dog in town.

Ok. Now to award y’all back ๐Ÿ™‚

1) aka Ever Improving Girl, A Toronto kindred soul with a love of running and fitness.

2) My favorite photographing, belly dancing momma.

3) Another stillbirth survivor raising her rainbow daughter now. Our daughters are very close in age and we have been through every step of the journey together.

4) A fun loving, writing and cupcake loving momma who also lost a babe before raising her rainbow girl.

5) The now famous, long time, online and real life, loss mama friend o mine, Jenn Moore

About mommamaynard

โ€œLife is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.โ€ โ€” Albert Einstein. When it feels like your world has been shattered, and you have reached rock bottom, you must make a choice: Stay where you are and fade away, or keep moving forward. Thankfully I chose to move forward and was blessed with the two most wonderful children after the death of my first in early labor. Things are looking up.
