Fall Fitness Regime

Ok, summer has been a blast. Filled to the brim with weddings, potlucks, barbeques and beer. I love summer; my thighs do not. Time to get back on the horse. Dave is in the process of getting rid of our computer desk, moving to a standing desk made up of a shelf and a flat monitor on the wall; thus clearing us up lots of floor space in the basement office/guest room. That will be the perfect space for my daily exercise regime of Pilates, free weights and maybe even hooping a la Jen Moore. First I gotta make a hoop.

We go to Toronto for our annual whirlwind visit in one month and I would like to feel even slightly more toned then I do now. I don’t expect miracles in one month, believe me, but even the waist on my pants being looser then they are now would feel great. When I put my fall dress pants on last year, the thighs and waist was slightly snugger. I am still down a size from before I had E.; most people struggle to loose their post partum weight, I didn’t gain any, in fact, I lost weight via nursing for the 18 months I did. That being said, I am still 40-50 pounds over what I should be, in a perfect world. In this current world though my personal goal is to lose 20 lbs before pregnancy #3, which I want yesterday, so I best get moving I suppose. Hopefully that will prevent the late term hypertension I am prone to.

I want to get into running again as well, slowly. My SI injury from the pregnancies is still lingering and I have alot of hip pain (Wow, kids must be REALLY worth it to go through that pain a third time and stretch my body just that much more more huh? You Betcha, and then some !!) I will re-tackle the Couch 2 5k program again the near future. I want to start with the Pilates, hooping, dancing and free weights to strengthen my core and muscles before hitting the pavement. I think it’s smart given the extent to which I threw out my hip joint during my last 5k race preparation (which coincidentally? Is also when I found out I was expecting Evangeline).

I plan to do 1 hour, 5x a week to start with. In accompaniment with that I am going to hardcore clean up my diet. My diet is already excellent, packed full of whole foods. I just need to cut the portion sizes and the sugar except Saturdays. Saturday’s will be my treat day, because Saturday’s we go to the farmer’s market and I always enjoy a fresh baked pastry, and a girls gotta have a little fun. I will also work harder to earn it and enjoy it guilt free on Saturday mornings with my fair trade yummy coffee.

I am excited. Something about the change of seasons just fills me with potential. It’s also related to the minimization of crap in our household. We just got rid of 2 more bag of stuff we don’t need and the feeling of relief makes me want to set further life improving goals.
